Guided by the principles of confidentiality, independence, impartiality, and informality, each ombudsperson listens carefully to understand concerns and help individuals to articulate them clearly, explains relevant rights and responsibilities, discusses applicable policies and regulations, and assists individuals in exploring and assessing the options and resources available to them for resolution, whether informally or through departmental, school, or university procedures.
