Your new home at IU

Welcome to Luddy Hall, the stunning, four-story innovation hub that became Luddy's new home when it opened in January 2018. The 124,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art Makerspaces, seven classrooms, as well as our academic advising and career services offices.

Luddy prides itself on its commitment to excellence, collaboration, and a culture of belongingness—all of which is bolstered by Luddy Hall's presence and made possible by donor and information technology pioneer Fred Luddy and his family. A teaching and research center for students and faculty, Luddy Hall offers a unique and vibrant space dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship, community, and cutting-edge research.

A few things you should know

Whatever you’re most comfortable using! Most classes are taught to work with both PCs and Macs; however, there are many computer labs available in the Luddy buildings and across IU’s campus for your use. Luddy has no additional hardware requirements or suggestions beyond IU’s general computer recommendations.

Students who have reserved their seat for fall will receive an email notification from the Office of Orientation and Enrollment Programs with information about the summer New Student Orientation (NSO) program. As part of your NSO program, you'll meet with a Luddy academic advisor who will help you select and enroll in your fall courses.

There’s no need to buy anything you don’t already have.  As an IU student, you are eligible for free downloads of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and antivirus products. Visit IUware to view other software available to you.

Students enter Luddy with a wide range of technical skills. Students can find success in our classes with or without prior tech experience. We have a variety of systems in place to support and challenge students, including faculty support, academic advisors, associate instructors, peer mentors, and free tutoring for core classes.
