Degree requirements

The B.S. in Intelligent Systems Engineering program combines intensive engineering and computing studies, including a strong focus on programming, with the broad liberal arts foundation of Indiana University.

In your senior year, you’ll complete a hands-on capstone project where you’ll apply skills in modeling, simulation, and systems design to real-world research or solutions for industry partners. This interdisciplinary project gives you the chance to collaborate with peers from different concentrations, gaining valuable experience and creating new knowledge.

The Complete program requirements, including concentration area courses, are listed in the Luddy academic bulletin. To review your specific requirements, check out the bulletin that represents the year you entered IU.

Degree tracks include:

  • Bioengineering & Pre-Med Pathway
    • Bioengineering blends biology, technology, and engineering to address challenges in medicine and the environment. With an optional pre-med pathway, this concentration prepares you for medical school, research, or graduate programs in biology and related fields.
  • Cyber-Physical Systems
    • Merge computational technology with human and environmental interaction to create smart systems, autonomous vehicles, wearable devices, and IoT.
  • Molecular & Nanoscale Engineering
    • Combine electrical and materials engineering, and nanoscience to create high-performance devices for energy, healthcare, and micro/nano electronics.
