About the contest

The IU Programming Contest is a team-based algorithmic programming contest hosted by the Department of Computer Science, open to everyone who can code!

Teams of up to three participants.
Each team uses only one computer.
Three hours to solve as many problems as you can!
Participants receive free IUPC T-shirts and lunch!
Prizes for top teams in pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate divisions.

Who: Anyone who can code! IUPC is beginner-friendly, with interesting challenges for all skill levels.

Where: Luddy Hall ground floor

When

April 4th, 10:00 AM–3:30 PM

Check-in: 10:00 AM
Practice round: 10:30 AM
Lunch: 11:30 AM
Contest: 12:00 PM
Awards and closing ceremonies: 3:00 PM

What to bring

Up to two teammates
Your laptop or Luddy computers available
Scratch paper and writing utensils
Any physical reference materials

Rules

Teams receive multiple programming problems of varying difficulty at the start of the contest.
Solutions must pass all hidden test cases within the time and memory limits.
We use ICPC-style scoring: your rank is determined by the number of solved problems. Ties are broken by penalty points, which is the number of minutes it took to solve each problem, plus 20 penalty points for each failed submission.
Use any programming language you prefer: C++, Java, Python (PyPy), C, C#, Kotlin, Racket, Go, JavaScript (Node.js), TypeScript
No external assistance from other people or AI tools is allowed during the contest. It's your team versus the problems!
