You'll gain expertise in computational biology, machine learning, and data analysis, preparing you to address challenges in areas like genomics and biotechnology. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities essential for real-world impact.
Graduates will perform advanced statistical modeling and analysis, apply data science algorithms to both structured and unstructured data, and combine statistical thinking with computational tools to solve complex problems. They will design reproducible and ethical data workflows and be prepared for careers in analytics, research, or data science, as well as for further doctoral studies.
Format: Online and on-campus
Start dates: Fall
Applicants must apply and be admitted to both the Data Science and Statistical Science programs. The combined program requires 52 credit hours, offering a more efficient path compared to the 61 credit hours needed if pursued separately.
The Luddy graduate admission committees will consider students who have a three- or four-year bachelor's degree. Applicants should have a minimum of a 3.0 (B) or higher GPA.
This integrated dual-degree program requires 52 credit hours and combines core courses in statistical theory, regression, multivariate analysis, and time series with data science courses in machine learning, big data systems, and data mining. Electives bridge applied statistics and computational methods, and a shared capstone, internship, or research experience fulfills requirements for both programs.
