Join us April 17-18th for the fifth annual Luddy Hackathon at Indiana University. This exciting two-day event brings together creators, problem-solvers, and future tech leaders to develop cutting-edge solutions using the tools and technologies they’re most passionate about.
At the Luddy Hackathon, you’ll work alongside peers to develop a project from start to finish. Whether you’re into websites, mobile apps, games, software, or AI models—you’ll have the freedom to build what excites you. The theme? Simple: Code Until Dawn!

Frequently asked questions
A hackathon is an event where students "hack" together creative projects like apps, websites, games, and more within 24-48 hours. There will be no malicious or unauthorized hacking involved.
Yes! Attendance is completely free. We will provide food throughout the event, along with swag and prizes! Travel reimbursements are provided as well.
The event is in-person.
The event takes place at Luddy Hall, 700 N Woodlawn Avenue. parking is available at the Forrest Ave Parking Garage or in the Fee Lane Parking Garage. Please review theParking Map and contact event staff to obtain your parking permit.
This event is open to any students currently enrolled at any accredited institution.
The Luddy Hackathon is beginner friendly! We'll have mentors available to guide and support your throughout the event.
Attendees must be at least 13 years old due to child privacy laws. If under 18, you can attend, but a university-provided liability form must be completed. This will be provided on the day of registration.
Teams can have 2-4 members. Each team must only consist of undergraduate or graduate students. Don't have a team yet? You can find other teammates during the event, at our opening dinner, or using the hackathon Discord.
You must begin working after the opening ceremony. While brainstorming ideas beforehand is encouraged, coding cannot start until the event officially kicks off. You cannot submit a previously started project, but you may use existing frameworks if they’re clearly credited in your README submission, and your own work is clearly distinguishable.
You can only apply for one case, but there will be optional fun challenges through the course of the hackathon. Cases will be announced at the opening ceremony.
Staying overnight is not required, but you are welcome to stay in the Luddy building as long as you wish. Please reference the "What should I bring?" tab for suggestions on what you might need if you don't plan on leaving.
A detailed schedule will be released closer to the event. Expect speaker sessions, social activities, and plenty of opportunities to meet fellow hackers and our amazing sponsors.
We will not provide hardware, but you are welcome to bring your own. Due to building fire codes, soldering kits are not allowed.
