The Master of Science in Informatics at Indiana University is a highly flexible and interdisciplinary program that equips students with both foundational knowledge and domain-specific expertise in information technology. Based on your interests and career goals, you can tailor your learning experience by focusing on areas such as Complex Networks and Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Computing Culture & Society, Intelligent and Interactive Systems, Virtual Heritage, Health Informatics, Security Informatics, or Animal Informatics.
Blend your technical skills with insights from fields like health informatics, intelligent systems, and cybersecurity. In the Master’s in Informatics program, you’ll explore the social, scientific, and technological impact of information technology while shaping your own multidisciplinary path.
The Luddy graduate admission committees will consider students who have a three- or four-year bachelor's degree. Applicants should have a minimum of a 3.0 (B) or higher GPA.
This is a customizable, 36-credit-hour degree that allows you to create your perfect technology-focused degree. Choose courses with a cohesive focus within the field of informatics that align with your career interests.
27 credits need to be from approved informatics courses and the remaining nine credits can be from any graduate-level course within or outside the Luddy School.
You'll work with your academic advisor to tailor your courses, and complete the degree in as little as four semesters. If you're thinking about a Ph.D., you can transfer up to 30 credits to the informatics Ph.D. program.
