Ph.D. Campus Visit Weekend

This weekend is a weekend designed for you to learn about our School and our programs. While you are visiting, you will interact with our faculty, staff, and current students. We are eager to get to know you so we hope you can attend the Ph.D. Campus Visit Weekend.

The school will cover the cost of two nights of lodging on Thursday and Friday.

To help offset your travel expenses, the school will reimburse you up to $700. To be reimbursed, you will need to submit paid receipts to the Recruitment and Admissions Team. More information will follow on how to request reimbursements.

Arrival Time

You should arrive in Bloomington prior to 4:30 pm on Thursday March 5th

The Welcome Reception begins on Thursday, March 5th at 5:30 pm in the Indiana Memorial Union's Alumni Hall, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405.

Early Arrival or Late Departure:

If you need to arrive earlier than Thursday, March 5th, email Admit2IU@iu.edu to let us know so we can make the appropriate arrangements with the hotel. You will be responsible for paying for additional nights lodging.

Overnight Accommodations

During your visit, you will be staying at the Biddle Hotel, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405 (800-209-8145). Our school will cover the cost of lodging for two nights– Thursday, March 5th and Friday, March 6th. The school also will cover the cost of parking at the hotel.

Room Assignments:

You will have your own room. You will be notified of your room assignment upon arrival at the Biddle Hotel, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405.

Check-In Time:

You can check into the hotel any time after 1:00pm on Thursday, March 5th

Check-Out Time:

Check-out time is 11:00am on Saturday, March 7th. You can leave your luggage with the hotel concierge if you have a later departure.

Travel arrangements

By Car:

If you will be driving to Bloomington, Indiana, you will be reimbursed up to $700 for roundtrip mileage from the departure location to the Biddle Hotel, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405 at $.725 per mile for the first 500 miles and $.3625 per mile for 501 miles or more. Map Quest will be used to determine the roundtrip mileage.

If you rent a car to drive to Bloomington, Indiana, you will need to submit the car rental contract showing the total amount paid. You will be reimbursed up to $700 for the car rental or roundtrip mileage, whichever is less.

Parking is available at the hotel that the school will cover.

By Plane:

You need to book your flight and the shuttle as soon as possible. The closest airport is the Indianapolis International Airport (IND).

Shuttle from Airport to Bloomington:

Operating between the Indianapolis International Airport and Bloomington are two shuttles that run every two hours. Once in Bloomington, you need to get off at the Biddle Hotel, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405. It is recommended that you make an on-line round-trip reservation in advance.
